Try finding that happy medium of shooting enough/not over shooting when you're taking a raid. On 4-5 people you can usually shoot around 3 times depending on your fuel. (If they have people/rocks blocking their shots then you can squeeze out an extra dual.
When you land scope to one of the corners, and then use your radar. This allows you to gain vision of an area that the people raiding you normally won't have access to.

When you land and you're being chased, after you've corner scoped and radared, if you find equipment and the raiders still haven't found you, then grab them. You usually don't want to grab more than 1-2 at a time unless it's taking a really long time for everyone to catch up to you(you usually want to teleport close to the raid and fire back as much as possible.)
