that is pretty spot on crippled ninja i am closing in on 800 hrs and have about 350 kills most of them are players couple are from computer bots

There are two ways to look at it. The more awards you have, the better decorated your account will look and that adds some prestige but your point also has valid reason. Personally I think it depends on the order in which you achieve the awards. I just picked up the Bronze tank award but no triple star yet. So i kind of regret it also. More awards = better but order of most valuable to least valuable is cool as well.
